A Showcase of Texture in Logo Design

When it comes to logo design, you can affect the mood and style of the artwork heavily by the texture that you use. The use of texture is a stark contrast to the flat web design trend – instead of smooth, sleek and polished visuals, using texture can help you to add a level of realism to your design. Texture can add a feeling of roughness, and works really well for grunge or vintage style logos. When done right, it can even evoke a kind of nostalgic feeling for the design, which can suit some companies perfectly.

Texture can also be used to help separate out different sections of the logo design. A sleek and clean border can be accentuated – and made to look like it almost lifts off the screen – by adding a texture to an element behind it. Other times, texture can be used instead of a regular drop shadow, which can add an interesting effect to the artwork.

One of the best things about using texture when designing your logo, is that it can be incredibly subtle. Sometimes, a very slight level of texture can help to add that finishing touch to a logo that would otherwise feel like it may be missing something. It can be delicate, but when done right – it can really add that level of professionalism and aesthetic style to the design.

We’ve created a showcase of some stunning, beautifully designed logos that all make use of texture to help add an extra edge to the artwork. Some of these examples use texture very subtly, whereas others may be at the opposite end of the spectrum – but in each case, they’ve been crafted with real care and attention, and the results are incredible. We hope you find the collection a useful source of inspiration for your next logo design project.
